It’s a well known fact that ancient homes built with stone and lime mortar were built using this method for good reason. Not only was lime relatively plentiful in the Cevennes region of Occitan France, in this deep south climate which ranges in high summer heat and winter cold, with episodes of driving rain, the mortar could withstand such variation.
